Julie Newmar isn't just pussyfooting around
kevinolzak17 May 2016
"Hot Off the Griddle" finds the return of Julie Newmar's Catwoman causing strange stirrings in Batman's utility belt, effortlessly flirting with the Caped Crusader even as she taunts him. It seems that her tastes do not include The Joker, due to his green hair, or The Penguin, too small for her, but she's definitely raising more than the stakes with the old bat. Accompanied by Gotham City's three best cat burglars, Catwoman gives the Dynamic Duo a hot foot before leaving them to fry to a crisp on the rooftop underneath the broiling hot sun, amplified by giant magnifying glasses. Look for Edy Williams as the hostess serving up catburgers at the Pink Sandbox (later seen as one of Liberace's ladies in "The Devil's Fingers"/"The Dead Ringers"). Lee Meriwether made a perfectly serviceable Catwoman in the character's second appearance in the 1966 feature film, but Julie reclaims the role throughout the second season, aided and abetted by the writing of Stanley Ralph Ross.

Catwoman Uses Solar Power For A Game of The Cat And The Griddle
DKosty12321 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Julie Newmars second set in the series and first of season 2 is energetic to say the least. We have Bat Traps galore as she toys with Batman and Robin. There is the dance of the hot foots and the gas of sleep and even more. Then there is the rooftop scare,

The cliffhanger is a well greased dynamic duo as Cat Woman ties them down and butters them up to be set up under huge magnifying glasses to be the first solar baked super heroes.

Holy Oleo, she goes who hog using butter, not the cheap lard substitute. That is the way of the cat as she leaves them on a high roof with the sun getting ready to administer the scorch.

Stay Tuned Solar Energy Fans for Natural Popcorn Crusaders,

Same Theater Time,

Same Buttered Channel.

CAT BURGERS HOT OFF THE GRIDDLE!
tcchelsey15 August 2022
The story goes that Newmar's own brother, who was attending Harvard at the time, insisted she accept the role of the Catwoman when it was offered to her, because he said all his classmates were addicted to BATMAN.

The rest is history.

Julie Newmar is the WHOLE show here as the Catwoman goes on a wild robbery spree, and lovin' it! Best of the best has her capturing Batman and Robin and roasting them alive(?) on a building roof with giant magnifying glasses.

Now that's original!

Series writer Stanley Ralph Ross was at his fiendishly creative. Ross wrote 27 classic episodes for the show, and probably had a blast doing it. Ross also turned up in some bit roles in the series and was a popular cartoon voice actor. He later became a minister and, in fact, married Burt Ward to his present wife!

Another real campy episode, Julie Newmar making the most of her role, and with some good one liners tossed in. That was the thing about BATMAN. Aside from the BIFFS, POWS and BAMS, an episode would not be classic without that witty dialogue all us big kids loved.

Look for MAVERICK star Jack Kelly as Jack O'Shea.

Jack was a man of action in tv westerns, later the mayor of Huntington Beach, California. This had to be a gag appearance for his fans.

The restored color of these episodes is excellent and you have to give the production crew credit for desiging some out of sight sets that are truly a work of art. The color enhances everything.

Never miss an episode with Julie Newmar. SEASON 2 EPISODE 3 remastered dvd box set.
