Paul Martel (David Niven) has just finished his latest manuscript. When a stranger suddenly appears in his house at night.
The man is charming, suave and has a fantastic tale about the perfect murder. He wants Martel to write it and eventually have it published.
However Martel realises that it was this man who committed the murder. The man tells Martel that once the story has been written, he will kill Martel.
An under pressure Martel needs to find a way of escape, unfortunately he is interrupted.
It was nice to see Niven under pressure. Henry Daniell as the strange man always seems to be too suave and English to convince as an American bad guy who committed the perfect murder. He also seems not to have had any injuries after a shelve fell on him.
