Itt Is A Star
Gerardrobertson6131 May 2018
Another of my favorite Addams Family episodes, this time we see Cousin Itt taking on a leading role in a play written by Gomez, however before he gets the lead, he has to deal with Fester who has to deal with Lurch, who both want to play the lead.

What I really enjoyed was hearing Itt talk clearly in a deep baritone voice, and quoting Dickens and Shakespeare. Good episode and worth watching.

Warning: Spoilers
To truly enjoy this episode, don't read the other reviews. In fact, all that I will tell you is that Cousin Itt goes through a transformation. One of the series best.

Cousin Itt develops a "star complex."

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode the entire regular cast prepares to perform a play. After Gomez bribes the producer with $60,000 he agrees to do the play, casting cousin Itt in the star role. When cousin Itt is heard to speak only gibberish, the producer wants to back out, but decides to stay because of the bribe. Gomez and Morticia then try to teach cousin Itt to talk normally. This episode is an obvious parody of the movie "My Fair Lady." Much like in the movie Gomez and Morticia gradually get Cousin Itt to speak, albeit in a deep sophisticated voice. Cousin Itt then begins to wear sunglasses and take on the airs of a self-centered actor. He repeatedly recites lines from the movie "My Fair Lady", and Shakespeare. The entire episode is an amusing parody of the movie. It may be the only episode in which cousin Itt speaks in an understandable voice. Naturally in the end, he returns to speaking his normal gibberish.
