"Erm, you guys aren't into anything weird are you?" Poor low budget anthology.
poolandrews13 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Hell Hath No Fury has a guy (Aidan Simpson) sitting in a diner waiting for his girlfriend (Nicole Hancock) when a cowboy looking guy (Donny James Lucas) invites himself to join him. They begin to chat & the cowboy looking guy starts to tell him some stories...

First up is the tale of two friends who fall foul of a bit of possession & revenge...

Then it's the story of a female police officer who is raped by a guy but she manages to get her gruesome own back using hypnosis...

Then it's a guy who gets a visit from his future self for reasons I'm not sure about...

Finally it's the tale of a nurse named Deanna (Michelle Boback) who is raped twice within a day but she manages to turn the tables on one of her unfortunate attackers & he soon realises that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...

Directed by Rob Carpenter, Vince D'Amato, Ryan Nicholson & Peter Speers who all have various other credits including the script, producer, editing etc. I personally thought Hell Hath No Fury is a pretty poor low budget anthology that didn't particularly impress me. The script obviously bases it's four stories & the wraparound segment on the premise of female revenge & the first story is just poor, the second story could have been quite effective had the writing been better since it has a fairly neat little twist while the third is absolutely terrible & seemingly pointless & the fourth tale is easily the best as it sports some outrageous scenes of a demented woman going ape after being raped twice & some leg crossing genital torture plus she hires a guy to rape her male attacker in a suitably sleazy moment. However there's plenty here to dislike, the way it's written with all sorts of flashbacks, dreams & flash-forwards that confuse the story & the narrative, why weren't the stories just told in proper chronological order rather than jumping around all over the place besides being able to reuse the same footage more than once? They would have been far more effective because as it is they're a bit of a jumbled mess. Apart from the second story they all lack good twists & apart from the fourth they lack exploitation elements, overall not a good anthology as three of the four stories are too weak & at almost 2 hours long it outstays it's welcome.

I presume each of the four credited directors handled one of the stories & none of them do a particularly good job, it's very cheap looking & it looks like it was shot on a digital camcorder. There's plenty of shaky hand-held shots & lots of other annoying editing/camera tricks that look terrible. There are a few decent gore scenes, there's some scissors in someone head, someone has their head sliced off with a circular saw & a teeth clenching torture scene during the fourth story where a woman jerks a rapist off so he gets an erection & then proceeds to stick syringes in his penis & burns it with a blow torch all in graphic detail, ouch, ouch, ouch.

Technically the film is poor, it's not much better than a home film to be honest. The acting is predictably poor.

Hell Hath No Fury doesn't quite work, the idea is OK but the stories are too predictable & only the fourth tale provides any real entertainment or exploitation value which is why I'm giving it four stars out of ten. Not a film I can recommend but that torture scene is certainly memorable, just a shame about the rest of the film really.

Could be worse
gaius-octavius20 November 2009
This film is actually a collection of shorts, tied together rather awkwardly by a conversation between two men in a coffee shop. The look and feel of each short varies greatly, and the sound on my copy (part of the Catacomb of Creepshows collection) was poor, which didn't aid understanding.

Some consider the final story, "Torched" the best of the lot, but for me it was a little melodramatic. Still, if you want an over-the-top rape revenge story, it'll probably hit the spot nicely. Of the other stories, "Three Degrees Kelvin" seems completely pointless, and not at all suited for the anthology, "Prey" is another rape revenge tale - albeit a more creative one - and "Anna Lynn" is an eerie, rather than gory, piece. The latter was probably my favourite of the collection, due in part to the very attractive Kieran Sequoia.

Overall, it's not memorable, but there are worse ways to kill time and the acting is generally of a better standard than many low-budget films.

Would have better if it were more cohesive...

Warning: Spoilers
"Hell Hath No Fury" is a extreme, no-holds barred, erotic-horror anthology brought to us by the makers of "Vampires Vs. Zombies", and "Heads Are Gonna Roll." While it lives up to its gratuitous promise of extreme gore and loads of nudity, that's about all it has going for it, sadly.

The film opens with a wraparound of two men sitting in a diner swapping horror stories of scorned women, back and forth.

Story one tells us of a man who has a one night stand with a woman, and wakes up in the morning to discover that he has been tied to the bed because the woman is afraid he will leave her. She finds out that he is married, which leads them to argue, and then she leaves to get a pair of scissors to cut him loose. In a strange twist that I honestly did not expect, his jealous wife drops in and brutally murders both her husband and the woman. This story was actually pretty decent, and to the point. The acting was well-done, and the ending was pretty gruesome.

Story 2 was just absolutely confusing, but I think I got it. It opens with the police investigating a man's apparent "suicide." It turns out the female cop (who I think is a hypnotist?) was raped by this man, and she gets her revenge by using hypnosis to get him to kill himself. Not only was this story confusing, it was also just downright disgusting and disturbing. The scene where this man is raping her, he shoots her in the leg, and then has sex with the hole caused by the gunshot!!! I found this to be in absolutely poor taste. Just downright unnecessary! Not only is this story poor just for those reasons. The sound is also pretty bad. It was difficult to understand what the characters were saying most of the time.

Story 3 just did not make any sense, and it felt like it was thrown in at the last minute, as it plays out quite differently than the others, and serves no real purpose. This is possibly due to increase the running. But I don't see why seeing how the movie is over an hour and 40 minutes! Anyhow, story 3 is about a man being visited by his future self, and is told that his girlfriend will be breaking up with him soon due to his infidelities. The ending features his past or present self, (not sure here) along with him, and his future self, and his girlfriend as his past self (?) bringing another woman home. This leads to his girlfriend breaking up with him. This one, unlike the other stories seems out of place because there is no violence in this one.

Story 4 is easily the best and most disturbing story out of the bunch. It opens with a woman leaving her apartment to go to work, when she is attacked and raped by a masked assailant. This ultimately leads to a descent into madness, when she captures her attacker and turns the tables on him as well as any other man who scorns her. What made this story so powerful was the performance of the lead actress. She really understood the character. She showed no remorse when getting her revenge against those who hurt her. Another reason this was one the best was because the violence and gore was disturbing but perfectly executed. For example, the scene with the hypodermic syringes that she sticks in a certain spot, and then uses a blow torch on that same spot as means to torture her rapist.

The wraparound concludes with one of the men telling the stories receiving his "just desserts" for cheating on his wife.

Overall, "Hell Hath No Fury" is a decent rape revenge, female-empowerment horror anthology. Sadly, it's too all over the place, and poorly executed (excluding the 4th story) to be taken too seriously. Maybe that's what the filmmakers' intentions were, I don't know. But I do know it could have been much, much better if more attention to detail had been provided. However, it's still decent enough for fans of exploitation horror. Just ultimately forgettable.

Catacomb of Creepshows #3 (of 50) or I'd rather be watching Femme Fatales
movieman_kev23 September 2012
An anthology of skits about 'wronged' women seeking revenge. A married man gets in over his head after a one-night stand, a mentally unstable girl seeks help to get revenge on the man who tricked her into murdering her brother, a female detective works on the case of a rapist/murderer, a crappy riff on Multiplicity, and a nurse gets revenge on her rapist. Oh and a vampire for no earthly reason whatsoever.

The only story really worth anything, "Torched" can be readily bought as a stand-alone film and as the other stories are varying in the amount of crappiness, that's the route I would've opted for had I not bought the 50-DVD Catacomb of Creepshows collection.

Eye Candy: Suzanne Serwatuk, Linda Stang, and Jennifer Angiers all get topless. Tamara Pender also shows T&A but due to the subject matter it's not considered eye candy by me

I'm here for "Torched" and nothing more
nasteen818 May 2012
Let me just start off by saying that I watched this film strictly for the last short "Torched" (Directed by Ryan Nicholson).

I started off watching the other shorts but they were absolutely painful to sit through so I figured I'd spare myself the agony and just go to the good stuff, and what good stuff it was. So if you want to see the whole anthology, be my guest. There are others on here that can give you a better idea of what they have to offer.

Now, on to 'Torched'... What an awesome short that was!! Ryan Nicholson surely has a talent at making downright ruthless horror movies (check out Gutterballs, Hanger) and this one is no exception. It starts out following a cute nurse through her routine until she gets brutally raped and then has a sort of mental breakdown... The story gets sort of bizarre and chopped up after that, up until the rapist follows her back to her house.... That's when the whole revenge plot starts. To say there are some graphic scenes in this one is putting it lightly. If you can't handle the hardcore, I'd steer way wide of this film. If you are like me and seek out the most hardcore of the hardcore, this one is right up your ally. Probably one of the best Ryan Nicholson has put out and a great story line, albeit a very short budget. I really hope mr. Nicholson gets his chance to put out some more brutality, he definitely has a knack for special effects.

8/10, but only for Torched. The rest of the film I'd give "maybe" two or three stars.

Not horrible, certainly on great

Warning: Spoilers
I first heard about this film last week while listening to a 2006 edition of Dead Pit Radio. They reviewed it and jerked off the special effects guy damn good. I found it on amazon for six dollars. Four days later I have it, I watched it, and now have this to say about it: I'm not too big into anthology movies. There are some good ones out there so don't let this film tell you any different. I enjoy the rape revenge films a lot. I am a huge of fan of "Last House on the Left" and "I spit on your Grave". The stories were good, but the wrap around story was terrible. It was really lame and didn't pull me in at all.

The acting is only bad because the director seems to be into 'being hip'. He picked 'hip' you actors and actresses for this film and it shows. This is not attacking the talent that any of these young up and comers at all. It just hurts the image of the film. There is a lot of nudity but it actually works since it deals with violent sex acts.

The special effects only shine on the segment called "Torched" with the blow torch on male genitalia that has been stuck with needles. The rest are pretty boring.

Overall it's a decent attempt. Rent or buy it cheap somewhere.
