Delightful, refreshing romance. This is what a movie should be like.

"Play it By Ear" is a return to a true romantic comedy. It is charming and refreshing. The characters are believable and make you realize what we are missing in a lot of movies of today. There is so much to relate to in these characters. They are people of today with values and morals. The characters aren't all jaded and vulgar but sweet and refined. When you see the movie you see true romantic characters. The boyfriend Joe, was the typical guy that is the kind you want to bring home to mother but not quite good enough. He's a teacher. She could accept that if he was a high school English teacher but, not only a third grade classroom teacher. He has brother that seemed perfect for her. What a dilemma. Should she continue to date the brother that likes her but appears not to be suited to her or should she go after the brother with her interests? See this movie and find out what happens in this delightful romance,

This movie makes you feel good

This movie is proof that you can still make a movie with good clean fun and values. This is a picture that makes you feel good all over and makes you believe that love is still out there. There is someone there for everyone if you give love a chance and open you eyes and heart.

The acting is great and the story line keeps you guessing. The ending lets you use your imagination and allows each person to guess if the characters get together. I think they do but that's just me. The writer truly develops each character to the extent that they seem real. Everyone knows people that are just like these guys in this show. They are looking for Mr. or Ms. right and sometimes do not realize they found him or her even thought it is hitting you over the head.

I know that this Ms. Flick's first movie but I suspect that we are going to be seeing a lot more films by her. Her writing and directing are second to none.

I hope to see this film at the local neighborhood movies soon. I feel it is a must see.

I saw this movie with my wife and two children aged 16 and 19. When even kids say a moving is funny, you know that you have a family hit.

Charming, nostalgic, adorable romantic comedy that is simply irresistible!
RVMicci-19 June 2006
A moving and delightful nostalgia-hungry girl meets boy story, gentle yet wonderfully savvy, and WAY, WAY superior to even the best so-called "date" movies and Hollywood romantic comedies. This one is truly and refreshingly from the heart, with that rare quality: a true emotional core.

The principals here are absolutely engaging -- indeed, the entire cast is splendid, including, of course, the great Rita Moreno, and the New York locales -- bookshops, Central Park vistas, brownstones -- and the brief, folksy musical interludes that punctuate the scenes, perfectly capture the feel of the Manhattan.

One can only hope this charming little film makes the rounds of the festivals and then quickly finds its way into wide release -- it will leave you feeling utterly charmed and beguiled.
