Wonderfully cinematic.

This short film is from a collection oddly entitled "Shorts for Cats"--though cats are not featured and cats would probably have no interest in the films! While not a scientific experiment, I have two cats and neither showed the least bit of interest in ANY of the shorts. Heck, I was almost expecting to see films with live-action versions of Tom & Jerry--though in every case, Tom would catch that dang mouse!!

The movie begins with some guys who look like they walked out of a "Lord of the Rings" film and one who looks almost like a cowboy all meet in a bar of sorts. A lot of fighting takes place, folks are killed and there is a bit of a twist at the end concerning the man who just died.

I was not bowled over by the story in this short film--that is why I only give it a 6. However, I was very, very impressed by the cinematic nature of "Duel". It's obvious that the people who made this film really know their craft, as it looks about as good as anything Hollywood could create. Wonderfully evocative music, great lighting, camera work and costumes all make for a film that looks very professional from start to finish. As a result, I'd really like to see more by these folks.
