Murder On The Border - Another Great Film Starring Siboney Lo
slickjigga10 January 2006
I just got a chance to watch Siboney Lo's most recent release called "Murder On The Border a.k.a. La Migra". Once again fans of Siboney Lo can watch her as she crosses over into the U.S. Cinema, and Stars along side of such famed actors as, Alpha Acosta, Salvador Pineda and Francisco Gattorno.

Siboney Lo's performance is spectacular and brings tears to your eyes as she portrays the hardships that many have to go through to gain Freedom in the U.S.

I can recommend this film to all of those whom like original story lines and action along with artistic expression.

A Real Fan - Mr 1st

Bad, and not worth it...

Warning: Spoilers
Well yet another misleading package. I knew going into this that it was going to be a second rate movie, however I was surprised to see how bad it was. If you are not Spanish/English bi-lingual, then there is a good portion that you can fast forward through. No subtitles to let you know what is being said and frankly wastes your time & makes you wonder what the heck was just said. I realize that this is a sensitive issue in todays world, but this movie does such a poor job of getting to the point I actually fell asleep. Heck I haven't fallen asleep during a movie in years!!! Poor acting combined with poor acting equals a lousy film... sorry, just the way this one hits me.

(2005) Murder On The Border THRILLER/ DRAMA

Low budget and straight to rental film starts out with a shooting of a Mexican boy waving a stick by an arrogant Border Patrol Officer. The border patrol office station who the officer works for then hire a young Hispanic born lawyer whose a US citizen to help defend him, and at the same time his sister almost gets herself assaulted by a drunkard Hispanic person while living on the bad side of town motivating her and the rest of the family to escape across the border illegally since his father was denied once for a prior criminal conviction who was caught stealing food to feed his family. The arrogant officer who also knows about the lawyer's complicated predictament situation attempts to strike up a deal with him to assist him in aiding him to do just that if he can succeed in acquitting him for this shooting. And at the same time, a Hispanic female reporter is doing her darndest to get to the lawyers family before the arrogant officers men does. Simplistic, like something that was thought up while watching the news or by newspapers with many inconsistencies and a lot of bad acting with no English subtitles, just Hispanic people speaking English without making out what they're trying to say sometimes with a good percentage of the time speaking Spanish without any English subtitles on the bottom on my DVD copy. And despite the happy ending this film is more bad than good.

Murder on the Border
sttt34 November 2005
I have just seen this movie and am still affected by the dishonesty and corruption that flood our authorities. Simple folks just trying to reach for something better are treated like a subclass. It was very realistic on how lawyers try to manipulate the courts and the families that are affected by this injustice. Keith Allen and Alpha were good in their roles as defenders of the the helpless. I enjoyed the scenery which help to give the movie it's authenticity. I am a regular at the video stores and it is nice to be able to pick up a little known gem and find it interesting and enjoyable. Some of the other movies that I have seen with a Latin flavor are Carlita's Secret, and Murder at El Meneo. Both films are action films and I would recommend them for rental.

Immigration and racism
dgestrada-doce26 April 2006
I really loved the simplicity of the story and the fact that a movie about immigration, and racism as the motive for murder, was actually made. A timely subject as we face the issue of illegal immigration in the USA and the controversy surrounding it. I loved Alpha Acosta and her 'real' Mexican accent as she made her first English-speaking movie. North Roberts is a very convincing corrupt and racist officer- a character I loved to hate! Salvador Pineda is the man! - what a ruthless 'Coyote'. A fresh movie seen from a fresh perspective. If you are looking for a movie that approaches immigration and racism from the point of view of the abused then see this movie- you'll get it. Note: I understand that the distributor has released an upgraded version of the DVD that does feature subtitles in English and Spanish (as originally intended), so get the latest release if possible.
