Fun, quirky and stylistically set. Well worth a watch

This is a film that shouldn't be taken too seriously (thats a given) It is funny in the parts that it needs to be so therefore fulfills the criteria 'Comedy Short' and the acting is good too which goes hand in hand with the quirky story.

The style in which 'Eyes Wide Open' was shot really Opened My Eyes (genius!). Alan Entwistle has obviously surrounded himself by the right team which is exactly what every great, aspiring film maker NEEDS to do. Why be a great Director and nestle in to a group of people that are going to make your film look naff? His style mixes modernity with snippets of a classic feel and even quick zooms of a close up give it a 70's cinematic edge. It would seem that he has tread where a lot of good directors wouldn't dare roam. Hats off

Never Put you Pants on Back to front

Warning: Spoilers
Nicely shot this and the acting is pretty good too, but I guess it was meant to be amusing and... Well... It just isn't.

How she couldn't remember not getting home, not getting shagged and not knowing that the bed she woke up in was her own simply says the writer hasn't got a clue and the director thought he had - Fortunately it was the same guy for the writer.

The disorientation as it's saving grace, but content and entertainment nil point. As mentioned the main actors are pretty good, so it's not a complete waste of time. The camera work is very professional - so assumed that Alan Entwistle got himself a good team to save the day.

Drinking affects your memory

This short has a number of good points. Firstly it is really well shot and by the fact it was done on 35mm has a great depth of field drop off. The disoriented artistic decision take is very effective.

There is also an interesting Sound track Ms. J.A. Cornish that works in direct correlation to the shooting.

The performances are good with my personal favourite in the two leads being a young guy called Gary Croome - Natural, easy on the eye and really works the scenes with Debbie played by Lindsay Carr.

Over all the direction works really well and think that the previous reviewer was a little harsh. I agree it's not a great story and it has it's flaws, but over all it's worth a watch.

It managed to get in Edinburgh and Canne so it really can't be that bad.
