Literal translation of the title: Don't cry, mammy.

Don't know if should call it a work of social criticism, it certainly has some part of it, but rather, it just describes what happens factually. This is a film about family problems in China in the era of market economy as China approaches modernity via the eyes of a nine year old boy.
