Lyons & Moran
boblipton14 August 2023
Eddie Lyons & wife, and Lee Moran and his wife share a house. They quarrel, but neither couple will leave. So they draw a line down the middle of the house, from the stove pipe at the back of the kitchen to the front door, granting each couple sovereignty over its domain.... even though the furnishings are not split evenly. It's not the last time this gimmick would be used, but it's nicely done here.

Lyons and Moran had a long screen partnership, but it's little remembered these days because it ended in 1920, out of exhaustion from hundreds of short comedies over the previous five years. Not many of their shorts survive, but when they do, they're wild and inventive, like this one.
