Chinese equivalent of Mrs. Schindler
zzmale2 January 2004
Besides the well known Oskar Schindler's rescue of hundred of Jews, his wife, Mrs. Schindler, also save many Jews on her own attempt, even though not as many as those saved by her husband.

This film, titled A Chinese woman under Gestapo Reign, is based on the true story of a Chinese lady who saved many Jews in Belgium during WW II and she is the Chinese equivalent of Mrs. Schindler.

Seeing this movie is a most uplifting experience

This is the best video I have ever seen (and I am 83 years old). Its educational value is great. It raises your spirit. It gives you hope. I wish I could buy it as a DVD or even as a tape (or a few tapes). I am certain I would look at it at least twice a year.

The movie teaches tolerance. It shows how wrong can be popular opprobrium motivated by prejudices. The speech the Chinese makes as a witness in front of the tribunal is inspirational.

The movie has scenes which remain engraved in our memory; the mother pushing the button which triggers the hanging of her own son is unforgettable. So is the scene where the Chinese goes up the stairs of a church till she reaches the top of the church and then shout the name of her husband (Joseph).

The story does not show that eventually, all ends well. A raper and traitor gets a good job. A wonderful woman dies from tuberculosis minutes after having been reunited to her husband who, relying on false rumors had abandoned her. The movie has a taste of credibility

Great acting performance and good story

I saw the series last year in December 2004 on TV5. I liked it a lot. Very good story, nice location and especially fantastic acting performances from Rik Hancké and Kristof Clerckx. It 's a shame that the series didn't air on more channels. As a Belgian I wounder why channels like VTM/RTL or EEN/CANVAS didn't bring it on the screen? I hope the series will come out on DVD ... This series proves that two different cultures (European/Oriental) can work together very well with a majority of Belgian actors working with the Chinese television. Superbe XU Qing as Jin Ling who seems to be the Chinese Schindler.

Congratulations to Rik and Kristof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
