Defense wins championships.

"Super Bowl XXXV" between the AFC and NFC champs the Baltimore Ravens and N.Y. Giants turned out to be mostly one sided and a blow out as clearly the better team won the tough and aggressive Ravens lead by the D and Ray Lewis. The game would start off with Raven QB Trent Dilfer throwing a quick TD pass then the Ravens quick and aggressive D would lead to Giants turnovers as it would end up that Giants QB Kerry Collins would throw four interceptions. And the Ravens would dazzle with a kickoff return score and the rushing of 102 yards from rookie RB Jamal Lewis and to close out MLB and team leader Ray Lewis was the game MVP in the 34-7 win.

Warning: Spoilers
This comment contains spoilers, you know. I don't want any of you people banning me because I didn't warn you. So there you go. I will give away the winner of this game at the bottom of this review. So if you don't already know, well that's your problem. This game was played in 2001!

The 35th Super Bowl was quite possibly one of the least interesting I have ever seen in my life. This one and Super Bowl XXXVII. But still, the atmosphere and hype of the Super Bowl compelled me to watch.

The Baltimore Ravens entered the game with quite possibly the nastiest defense assembled to date in the NFL. The offense was efficient at best, led by all-around nice guy Trent Dilfer at quarterback. But clearly the D was the strength of this team. Although they also had some decent special teams as well.

The New York Giants. . .to be honest I don't remember much about them. They were sort of a forgettable team, at least from my vantage point although I'm sure Giant fans remember them. Clearly they were good enough to get to the Super Bowl, with Kerry Collins at QB no less.

To make a long story short, Baltimore kicked New York all over the field that night. They scored in nearly every possible way. The most exciting part of the game came in the third quarter when Baltimore's Duane Starks ran back an interception to make it 17-0. Ron Dixon ran the ensuing kick-off back 97 yards for a touchdown to cut the lead back to 10. Not to be outdone, Jermaine Lewis then took the Giants ensuing kick 84 yards to the house to push the lead back to 17. As it turned out, that would be all the scoring the Giants would get all night as the Ravens defense held them to just 152 total yards. Neither offense really impressed, as the Ravens win it 34-7.
