A hallmark of good porn
Addonna20 October 2005
This is what porn should be (and could be given the chance). Its amazing what decent acting, a unique perspective, and a good plot-twist can do for a skin flick. Variety and invention are the spice of smut.

The story goes that Scott (Vince Voyeur) makes a bet with his snooty-snobby rival Pierce (Mike Horner) that involves Scott going one whole year without getting an erection. He would be locked up in a Glass cage and monitored under surveillance the whole time. Oh, and 1 Million dollars is at stake.

Pierce, being the lowlife that he is, undertakes several endeavors to encourage Scott's libido into performing its natural function (thereby winning the bet). This is done mostly by getting other people to hump each other silly in front of Scott's Glass chamber - while he can do nothing but watch, And wait.

Again, what makes this sex better than most other sex out there is the x-factor, the extra ingredient while we watch. We know that the purpose for the action is for Scott's arousal and therefore his loss. It adds an element of suspense that makes it more exciting. Luckily for us, we are under no such arrangment to control our impulses so we are free to (ahem) loosen the pants a bit.

The last two scenes are particularly good, with the 4-way dream sequence with Scott, Kobe Tai, Inari Vachs and T. J. Hart really taking the cake. And I mean, this is one of my favorite porn scenes of all time, folks. The last scene, an all-out orgy, will finish you off completely.

The end is not what you expect! Check out one of the best porn flicks ever made.

Clever XXX version of an old story

I haven't been able to trace down the original, but the same premise used in Vivid's above-average suspense feature "The Glass Cage" dates back to some "Twilight Zone" or "Alfred Hitchcock..." TV episode I saw many decades ago. Two men who despise each other have a bet requiring one to be locked up in a glass cage (to permit 24/7 surveillance) for a year, with a prize of $1,000,000 if he can avoid getting an erection for the duration.

Opening scenes, featuring a torrid lesbian sex show for a private men's club members performed by Inari Vachs and buxom TJ Hart, play like a '30s drawing room comedy. Directors Teri Diver and Tom Elliott are obviously film buffs, and Teri provides a literate script for verbal sparring and sarcasm between dislikable club honcho Mike Horner (in a NonSex role as the man betting a million) and womanizer Vince Vouyer, who has a trick up his sleeve.

Once Vince is behind glass, the video becomes impressionistic, with dream sequences, repeated imagery and other experimental techniques that keep the show interesting despite its one-note premise. Vachs and Hart return in a dream-sequence four-way with Voyeur and Mark Davis, and a large cast of seasoned Adult performers show up in a tantalizing orgy of 7 or 8 people going at it outside the cage.

Like its TV forebear, surprise plot twists and an O. Henry ending distinguish the show, which is easily accessible as just porn for audiences who persist in belittling the genre.. As in other of their classic if little-known features like "Persona" and "Moondance", the Diver/Elliott team represents pornographers who take their work seriously and provide creative entertainment rather than the Adult Cinema's usual assembly-line all-sex content.
