Lovely Novela
moviegirl-14 November 2003
Recently novelas have become almost comical with their silly plotlines and hip locales. I like this one that is set in rural Mexico. Are some of the plotlines a bit extreme, well of course, this is a novela but it is well written with a leading man who although could use more backbone, is intelligent enough to not believe everything he is told. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Mexican novelas.

This is a complete rehash of CANAVERAL DE PASIONES...from the plot line to most of the characters... Canaveral is a much greater novela with better acting, scenery, direction and dialogue... How can this novela be out on DVD, but classics like CANAVERAL be kept hidden away...? Why is it that they release all the awful novelas on DVD and keep the true gems from the public?

El Manantial had some interesting scenes and most of those were from the original, Canaveral... there's something about it that I don't like... maybe because i've seen the TRUE ORIGINAL and this cheap version doesn't do anything for me...

Simply the best of the new century!

Warning: Spoilers
The days when telenovelas revolved around a romance and all the things that affected it went down the drain! Just when we thought all hope was lost in the area of Mexican telenovelas, a small light shone on the screen. That light was called El manantial. Starring Adela Noriega, Mauricio Islas, Alejandro Tommassi, Daniela Romo, and Karyme Lozano, the soap tells the story of two lovers who dare not cross the boundaries set by their rival families, the Valdez and Ramirez. Alfonsina and Alejandro fall in love without knowing the truth about the rivalry that surrounds both of them. Years back, Justo Ramirez ,played magnificently by Tommassi, suffered an "accident" after Rigoberto(special appearance by Cesar Evora) found him with his wife. Rigoberto was murdered by Fransisca(a heartwrenching performance by the one and only Azela Robinson) and that is where the hate begins. But love is stronger and despite Barbara ,Lozano's young villain character, they manage to overcome obstacles like Alfonsina's rape at Justo's hands and the lie about how both of them are kin to each other. El Manantial was an excellent telenovela, well written, fast paced, and well acted! The novela has a violent start but its well justified in the story and the acting is superb! The only other novelas that have satisfied me to the degree of this one have been Amarte es mi pecado, Amor Real, and Rubi. I totally recommend it and you can buy the DVD at Blockbuster, Wal Mart, or Target! Watch it!

Soaps from Mexico are so predictable including this one .But this one has also charming actors and great producer Carla Estrada who knows what"s doing.Adela Noruega.Mauricio Islas ,Daniela Romo and Mauricio Islas are right choice for family Ramirez and Valdez. Not bad but anyway 3 of 5.
