From the Country that produces 99% of the World´s Emeralds

What an absurd and ridiculous plot! Who could possibly be gullible enough to believe this?.... What? It's a true story? Oh.... OK, Never mind! GREAT, engrossing story! But wait a minute...Is it REALLY a TRUE STORY ?!?!? ESMERALDERO has a very authentic Colombian look, sound and feel to it, that's for sure! (I lived there for 36 years). But listen up: This "Documentary" (It's NOT) revolves around Eishy Hayata, a Japanese businessman who arrived in Colombia via Los Angeles, and built an Emerald Empire in Colombia (World's biggest producer of Emeralds). Anyone would be skeptical upon discovering all of the following: It's based on his auto-biography; His daughter, Eva Hiroto Hayata, is listed as "Co-Producer" (Read-Bankroller) of the project.

It doesn't take much to figure out that's just so her father isn't listed as such! She appears, playing (who else?) herself. She is also credited for Art Direction and Screenplay. Of course, Eishy plays himself from the '90's onward. Oddly, a Colombian actor, Lucho Velasco, was cast as Hayata in the '70's and '80's, and so when we get to the 90's.... Please cue The VAPORS-"I'm Turning Japanese!" There is NOTHING about Eishy Hayata or the movie in Wikipedia. So as to the veracity of what's depicted on-screen.... Your guess is as good as mine!
