Little Abigail, who was the "child star" of two shorts directed by Jean Daskalidès, "De diesftal" and "Bibi", respectively in 1968 and 1970, has such screen presence that one can but regret that her career did not continue after those two appearances.
In "Bibi" (probably her own nickname in real life), she is the young sister of Alex (Alex Daskalidès), who this very day has... to square the circle: in other words, he must at the same time take care of Bibi and meet Cathy, his fiancée, for a date. To solve the problem he sees no other solution than to take the little girl with him, to which she agrees enthusiastically.
The easy way out for the director would have been to have Bibi throw some sand in the wheels of the pair of lovers. Thank God he refrained from doing so. Yes, the girl does act foolish but never to prevent Alex and Cathy from experiencing the delights of young love. Each character being complicit with the two others is precisely what gives freshness to this charming, unpretentious little film.
Kudos to Abigail, a cheerful and ebullient elf, and to her director Jean Daskalidès (more famous for the Leonidas firm he managed than for his film career) and his welcome light touch.
