Probably the first "home repair" show.
TC-413 April 2000
I saw this when it first came on in the Boston area. There was nothing to compare it with at the time. It was just a syndicated very low-budget show about a guy and wife tackling home improvements. It was very simple stuff like patching holes in plasterboard or hanging wallpaper. The chemistry and humor between these people is what made the show. It lasted maybe one season. He would never finish a project and whenever there was a mistake he would say "well, you get the idea". I liked it because it was for the average homeowner with the average house, not the half million dollar makeovers of the today's show that are only for the rich. I even sent away for his autograhed book. I was saddened to hear that he passed away in 1997. We need more shows like this.
