A woman travels to the Czech Republic, finds true love, battles a monster, and becomes a ballet star all in one!

Warning: Spoilers
This may be the worst piece of garbage i have ever lay eyes on. The acting is terrible, the lake monster sounds more like a flushing toilet, and the creepy incest relationship, and the final conclusion of the movie are all unexplained and so unlikely that this is a solid candidate for worst film of all time. The first 20 minutes of this movie showed some promise, but right at the point at which the lake monster was introduced, and when the only watchable scene, a nude woman, goes to ruin as the monster eats her, this movie went right down the tubes. I believe the guys at mystery science theater 300 would have an absolute field day with this steaming turd, as i can see that as being the only possible good use for this movie.

The combination of reality with fantasy was interesting and original.

The story of a ballerina leaving Manhattan in search of her family's castle and discovers a family's secret....

I enjoyed Savage Lagoon, although the performance is not the best. Which is a usual shortage in low budget films.

But the combination of reality with fantasy was interesting and original.

Ilona's love towards animals speaks of humanity and the twist with the water creature, as well as count of Rudlov, creates a mystery in this romantic atmosphere.

The beautiful locations and pieces of classical music, which flow perfectly with the feeling of the story, carried me completely away. I especially enjoyed music from opera Rusalka by Antonin Dvorak.

Interesting story

A struggling ballerina leaves New York for Bohemia (Czechoslovakia) to reclaim her ancestor's castle and where she uncovers a family secret… It would be good to know what the production has next in the store. Savage Lagoon is far from perfect but I see talent in the picture under financial struggle. Story is interesting, reminded me of my grandmother's stories. She often spoke about the cruel political regime after WWII and the story about Wassermann was her favored. The locations and music score are excellent. I believe these filmmakers are capable of producing a successful picture. I found this movie pleasurable to watch.

A time peace about a love story

Warning: Spoilers
I saw Savage Lagoon and I was very pleased with the movie, I liked the music also. The story brought me back to my childhood, to the legends of the underwater creature, which plays a main part like all monsters, in the child's fairy-tale world. This fairy-tale character doesn't eat people, as some can mistake him for, and he shouldn't be compared to any creature from US horrors.Savage Lagoon is a romantic adventure drama genre, with only a touch of a thriller. The main idea of the story that I saw is a true life from that part of the world- the political destiny of aristocrats after WW2 in 1948, and again, the destiny of aristocrats after the revolution in 1989, when they returned back to their roots to reclaim their property, IIona, the grand-daughter of the Count of Rudlov, is an innocent soul, and a dreamer, who meets coincidentally with her third cousin in the land of her ancestors. They fall in love, unaware of their roots, as some people married their cousins in the old days. The guy Yan in spite of learning the truth at the end, comes to protect her and faces death. I found the touch of the ancient legend an interesting idea that makes the story more exciting. Althouht some of the Actors could use some Acting classes, but I still enjoyed it greatly.

Most original

To my surprise I have really enjoyed this film. It captured my full attention from beginning to end. I was impressed with the overall story and where it was set. I loved the sceneries of different historical sites and the beautiful country sites. The characters were interesting and the background music was perfect for this sort of film. The film was definitely original and interesting. This film had romance, drama and comedy. Unlike films now a days, that seem to be repeating themselves. Modern day films lack the art that this movie provided. Bohemian Moon is a new concept, and I hope that movies in the future will again provide originality and art.

A missed opportunity that almost worked.

A young woman travels from her Manhattan homeland to Bohemia in the wake of a political power-shift, with high hopes of reclaiming her ancestral castle(which was seized during the communist takeover decades earlier). During her visit she falls madly in love, and many long-buried family secrets are slowly brought to light. Meanwhile, a mysterious creature of regional lore haunts the paludal depths of a nearby lake.

If you're on the hunt for a monster movie with a bounty of thrills and chills, you'd best just back off now...SAVAGE LAGOON is not what you're looking for by a long shot. On the flipside, however, this is a very ambitious oddity driven primarily by characters which are intimately written, and in most cases believably played by the cast. The central romance story is also quite appealing, and things move along nicely for the first two-thirds....then, suddenly, it becomes an increasingly hand-carried mess. The final twenty minutes of SAVAGE LAGOON are a Gordian-knot of shoehorned afterthoughts and unceremonious quick resolves. It ultimately feels like a compressed version of a substantially longer film, a shortcoming which, unfortunately, proves markedly injurous. A shame, as there's an interesting idea beneath the untidiness, and the project does bear fleeting sparks of ingenuity.

I wish I could wholeheartedly recommend this film, because I felt a unique creative pulse in the mix...it will be interesting to see what these folks bring forward in the future, hopefully with better resources.
