Pretty good Mainland Chinese kung fu epic
drngor14 October 2000
I rented this movie not knowing a thing about it and I actually was entertained by it for the duration of the movie. The plot is the typical vengeance against Ching official idea. There is a lot of fighting in this movie. Basically all of it is authentic wushu and tai chi. It's quite fast-paced and entertaining, and the choreography is good as well. Fans of kung fu movies should enjoy this a lot. Oh, and if you thought the endings of most kung fu movies are quite abrupt, get a load of the ending on this piece of work.

Fun example of Kung Fu fighting

As usual for these films, the plot is next to worthless. The characters are stereotypes. But who cares? The fight scenes are fun, and this film also has training scenes which are quite instructive. The Tai Chi choreography includes extensive push hands and sword forms.

Nature is Perfect

The first time I saw this movie I was a boy. As a man, I got to rewatch it. Though the choreography is ancient, it is antique and the plot is perfect. The movie is made for self reparation and inner peace and this is done through Tai chi. One of Jet Li's and Michelle Yeoh's best work.
