This is one of the most wisely conducted films with a religious motif that this reviewer has yet see. It will "take" strongly with audiences. The situation is poignantly true of human experience, and to find any fault seems a pity; few will notice its shortcomings. Still, it would have been better to have had the arrests ordered by a Gerry Society man. Then, good as are the scenes in the room of the tough young men, they fail to maintain the emotional impression of the earlier scenes, especially those in the Home with the Sisters of Charity. It is because these scenes are not nearly so true to life. The picture is, nevertheless, one of the most worthy of the week. - The Moving Picture World, June 3, 1911
