Copenhagen, Denmark – Markus Artved, the talented indie musician and producer from Copenhagen, has released his latest single, “Hey Dreams,” under his project, Honey Hideout. This new track comes as a prelude to Honey Hideout’s debut EP, slated for release later this year.
A Journey Through Dreams and Realities
“Hey Dreams” explores the profound and often poignant realization that life doesn’t always turn out as we’ve planned. In moments when time feels fleeting, there is beauty in surrendering to the present and embracing life’s unpredictable twists and turns. Markus Artved invites listeners into this introspective space with his newest musical offering.
“Dreams are fleeting and often impossible to recite or remember to their full extent when we wake up. On the contrary, the dreams that each of us have for the future are both infinite and everlasting, but they also change as we develop and grow. When a dream eventually comes true,...

Saturday Night Live‘s “Home Movies” sketch last night reminded us that Maury is the longest-running daytime talk show with a single host in American history.
That means that there’s some history involved in a show where the catchphrase “You are not the father” became a benediction for wayward men.
SNL relived that moment, as a family discovers an old tape titled “Big Announcement.” It is the day Ray (Mikey Day) discovered he was going to be father.
What’s soon apparent is that this was discovered not in an intimate family moment, but on the tawdry “Corey” show, a “Maury” imitator. But the premise is the same – we find out who exactly is the sire of a six-month-old baby.
Guest host Dakota Johnson plays mom Amber, a one-time wild child. Hilarity ensues as Ray denies parenthood, the low-brow audience cheers on the depravity, and another prospective father, Spooky...

Maren Morris stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night (November 7th) for a performance of “The Tree” with her friends Mickey Guyton and Brittney Spencer.
“The Tree” appears on Morris’ latest release, The Bridge, a two-song EP which she explained expresses “a very righteously angry and liberating phase” of her life as she steps away from the toxic “family tree” of country music. Speaking about her complicated relationship with the genre in a Los Angeles Times interview that debuted around the time of the EP’s release, she explained: “I thought I’d like to burn it to the ground and start over. But it’s burning itself down without my help.”
On Fallon, Morris also discussed her upcoming children’s book, her admiration of her friend Taylor Swift, and more. Watch the interview and her performance of “The Tree” below.

You never knew exactly what you would get when "The Twilight Zone" began. The series — produced and largely written by celebrated Emmy-winning writer Rod Serling — was a loose collection of fantastical tales. Some were supernatural, some were science fiction. Some were comedies, and some were scary as hell.
It should come as little surprise that the "scary as hell" episodes are among the most memorable installments of the series. William Shatner's desperate screaming that there's a man on the wing of the plane in "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" was instantly iconic, and repeatedly remade. Agnes Moorehead silently fighting off an invading force of tiny homicidal aliens in "The Invaders" was strange and shocking, and seemingly set the stage for future "tiny monster" horror movies like "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" and "Gremlins."
But perhaps no "Twilight Zone" episode is more overwhelmingly terrifying than the one about a little kid with godlike powers.

Matt Groening's and David X. Cohen's animated sci-fi comedy series "Futurama" debuted on March 28, 1999. Only a few months earlier, on January 31, Seth McFarlane's animated sitcom "Family Guy" also premiered. They were both primetime animated sitcoms on the same network, and both were part of a wave of "Simpsons"-adjacent shows that tangled the airwaves for years. "Futurama" had the advantage over all the others, however, as it was co-developed by "Simpsons" creator Groening himself. 1999 also saw the release of the "Dilbert" animated series, "Home Movies" on the Upn, "Mission Hill" on the WB, and the stop-motion series "The PJs," as well as "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Batman Beyond," and "Ed, Edd n Eddy." It was a banner year.
As such, "Futurama" and "Family Guy" were often mentioned as a unit in conversations. Many fans of one watched the other, even though one was a sci-fi slapstick program and the other was a crass,...

Like a lot of all-American dreamboats, Roy Harold Fitzgerald (née Scherer Jr.) made his way to Hollywood after World War II, making good on the offer to look up a friend’s brother should he ever find himself in the greater Los Angeles area. The ex-Navy mechanic had matinee-idol looks, a cornfed wholesomeness, and a lean-beefcake physique; anyone who took one look at Fitzgerald would have immediately thought, “He ought to be in pictures.” The young man had been told that acting was “sissy stuff” when he was growing up in the Midwest,...

To say “Central Park” marks Loren Bouchard’s first foray into animated musicals would be almost as misleading as saying it’s his first foray into animated comedies. The Emmy-winning creator of “Bob’s Burgers” (and co-creator of the cult classic “Home Movies”) has been blending genres for over a decade on his hit Fox sitcom, asking the Belcher family to sing, dance, scare, play games, soap up some operas, and more. “Bob’s Burgers” is a boundless engine for creativity, in part, because its episodic structure allows for constant reinvention, but also because it’s premise is so simple.
“Central Park” is both a more focused and a more ambitious series. Though similarities in animation styles, senses of humor, and family dynamics evoke immediate comparisons between the Apple TV+ original series and its broadcast predecessor, Bouchard’s latest leans on a more serialized narrative about a park manager trying to protect...

‘Contagion,’ the Movie That Predicted Our Pandemic, Is Really About Our World Falling Apart (Column)
In “Contagion,” the 2011 Steven Soderbergh drama that predicted, in eyebrow-raising, scientifically rigorous, this-could-be-happening-to-you detail, exactly what’s happening to us right now (incompetent trash-talking authoritarian president? — that plot point must have been discarded for being something you could only see in the movies), Matt Damon, as run-of-the-mill Minnesota guy Mitch Emhoff, sits in a hospital talking to Kate Winslet, who plays the epidemic intelligence officer investigating the spread of a mysterious virus. Emhoff’s wife, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, was one of the first people to catch the virus and die. In case he thought his mood couldn’t get any lower, Winslet’s investigator has news for him: It seems that the virus may have passed between Paltrow’s Beth and someone she saw during a layover in Chicago — the man she was having a relationship with before she got married.

The world of Harvey Birdman is expanding.
Adult Swim has given a series order to “Birdgirl,” a spinoff of “Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law” with Paget Brewster set to lend her voice to the title character. Brewster previously voiced Birdgirl in the original series as well as the recent special “Harvey Birdman, Attorney General,” which aired on Adult Swim in October.
In the new series, after being named CEO of the world’s largest and most non-sensical corporation, Sebben & Sebben, Judy Ken Sebben (aka Birdgirl) has to find a way to maintain her work/superhero life balance. Through the halls of the company headquarters she assembles her Birdteam. By day, they try to drag the company into this century. By mid-afternoon, they usually end up having to break a lot of things to stop something bad that one of them may have helped cause.

As you know, at the end of every year, the Library of Congress adds 25 films to the National Film Registry. These are seen as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant films” and they will be a protected and preserved part of American history.
There's a great list of films this year that includes a mix of several different kinds of films and it's cool to see there are some timeless classics that made the cut this year. Some of those films include The Goonies, Die Hard, Superman, Memento, Titanic, Dumbo, Spartacus, and more. I provided the full list below. I'm surprised that some of these weren't already added to the registry!

Fans of 13 Reasons Why have been shipping a few couples from the show in the months since it premiered on Netflix. In addition to people wanting Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford to date in real life, they also can't get enough of Miles Heizer and Brandon Flynn. The two obviously share a very special and close bond, but Miles's rep shut down the dating rumors when he told Page Six that the two are just friends. But in a newly released short film, the actors hint that they might be something more. In addition to appearing in 13 Reasons Why together, they also share the screen in Home Movies, a short film directed by Kevin Rios. The film created buzz at Outfest's Fusion Film Festival, which aims to promote work focused on Lgbt issues and people of color. In the emotional clip, Miles and Brandon share a tender kiss as men talk about their coming-out experiences.

Shout! Factory jumped on the bandwidth wagon with the launch of a streaming channel back in February 2015, thereby introducing new generations to—or just reacquainting old ones with—Mystery Science Theater 3000, a plethora of Godzilla flicks, and all the Home Movies they could handle. Sure, Shout! Factory TV was an ad-supported site, which meant sitting through commercials as if you were watching those Dennis The Menace reruns on an actual TV. But that was still a small price to pay, considering it was actually free. Well, for those who are a little more concerned with time than their budgets, Shout! Factory’s just launched a new add-on subscription with Amazon Channels that’ll let you watch The Jerk and The Saint for not much more than a single Redbox rental.

Sometime in the 1980s PBS would broadcast a barely watchable (see sample just below) copy of a creaky silent 'race movie' about a 'backsliding' black man in trouble with the law, the Lord and his wife in that order. The cultural segregation has been almost complete. It wasn't until even later that I read articles about a long-extinct nationwide circuit of movie theaters catering to black audiences, wherever the populations were big enough to support the trade.

With December right around the corner, it’s time for movie critics from around the world to start compiling their best-of-2015 lists, and the highly respected Sight & Sound magazine is kick-starting the process by unveiling its own list of the 20 Best Films of 2015.
Topping the incredibly diverse list of faves this year is Hou Hsiao-Hsien’s The Assassin, a Taiwainese martial arts film that won its helmer Best Director at Cannes when it debuted there earlier in 2015. It’s expected to be the frontrunner for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Oscars, and given that the voting body for Sight & Sound’s list includes 168 critics from all around the globe, perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that an acclaimed arthouse pic from a renowned auteur placed so highly.

Mark Rappaport, the film essayist, is long gone from New York and from America, but he’s back with more of his often-acerbic reflections on cinema and society. His five new films, which premiered at the Viennale, are short—most of them under half an hour. Their subjects range from tough guy John Garfield to the French actor Marcel Dalio to the largely forgotten actress Debra Paget, a "kitsch princess," as Rappaport calls her. As always, these are the reflections of a man who has seen a lot of cinema, maybe too much. Rappaport is best known for two feature-length film essays—"Rock Hudson’s Home Movies" (1992), and "From the Journals of Jean Seberg" (1995), both wry views of art and society from unexplored perspectives. Since moving to Paris some 12 years ago, Rappaport has been most visible in the media for a dispute with the American film professor Ray Carney over...

As fans of shows like Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and Mork & Mindy, we already knew we enjoyed the sitcom stylings of magical mishaps in real life, so we were kind of excited to check out this 60th Anniversary DVD collection by Mpi Home Video of My Favorite Martian. For those of you who don’t know (because we didn’t), My Favorite Martian aired on CBS from 1963 – 1966 and pretty much started the whole genre of fantasty/sci-fi TV comedies. The show is about Tim O’Hara (played by Bill Bixby), a newspaper reporter who meets a Martian (played by Ray Walston) and keeps him as his “Uncle Martin.” For three seasons, chaos and hilarity ensue as Uncle Martin’s Martian magic powers get in the way of living a regular Earthling life.

Home movies of kids can be notoriously difficult to watch unless the kids are yours. But we were so charmed by this dad's video, which uses special effects to turn his toddler daughter into a super hero of sorts, we reached out to him to find out how he created the visual effects. In an e-mail, Gallant refers to animated TV series like Home Movies and Dr. Katz as inspirations. Both of those shows left the air before the launch of YouTube, but they would’ve done great on the Internet, where short, amusing videos are preferred. Jaggy Lines continues the legacy of its televised precursors,...
