Uninteresting

This Ashlyn Gere vehicle from Michael Craig seeks and earns brownie points for being a story movie, the type that used to play all the time on Cinemax, but it just isn't an interesting treatment of a familiar subject.

Cassidy gets last billing in the end credits but in fact is a central character, carrying on an affair with Jon Dough while conspiring with him to get a favorable divorce from her husband Mike Horner. Symmetrically, Horner has an affair with Gere and they're plotting exactly the same thing. Both sides want to get incriminating photographic evidence of the other spouse cheating, to accuse them of adultery in a divorce action.

It's not played for comedy, but the movie unfolds as a series of errors as all the traps laid backfire. Most notably, Horner gets a friend Scott Irish to agree to seduce Cassidy, while Cassidy hires ultra-busty Tianna Taylor to seduce Horner. Guess what? Irish hooks up with Taylor instead.

So it goes, and the attempted ironic ending is cornball. If one wishes to wean fans off of gonzo and get them interested in storytelling, you have to make an effort to tell an interesting story, which Craig fails to do.
