There's no proof (yet) but you never know...
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
Huge news broke this week that the lovable Liam Neeson, star of such films as Taken, Taken 2, and Taken 3, has become convinced that a horse that pulled his wagon during production on Netflix's upcoming Coen brothers movie, The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs, remembered him from another film.
The internet meme machine quickly got to work on the revelation after the actor appeared at this year's New York Film Festival, stating to the gathered audience "This horse knew me. He actually remembered me from another western we made a while back … He whinnied when he saw me. And pawed the ground. I love animals. When we worked together before I took special care of him. I fed him treats. Gave him apples.”
That's brilliant, because horses love apples. They do.

British director John Madden has joined the chorus of industry figures condemning Harvey Weinstein, telling THR in an exclusive interview that the mogul "is a disgraced figure and, by his own acknowledgment, he’s brought this on himself.”
Speaking to THR at the Mumbai Film Festival, he said that Weinstein “craved power and had power and, as we now know, he was using it in ways that are repugnant and should be utterly condemned."
Madden had a long association with Weinstein, starting with his first film, 1993’s Ethan Frome, which was picked up for distribution by Miramax, then led...

Star of the Taken franchise, Liam Neeson, could be about to sign on to portray another man with a very particular skill-set – this time as U.S. Army General Douglas MacArthur, in the upcoming movie, Operation Chromite. Set in 1950 during the Korean War, the film will centre on a group of Korean soldiers participating in MacArthur’s planned military operation, which represented a significant turning point in the conflict.
The Korean War was fought from 1950-1953, though the consequences of the clash are still playing out today. The United Nations stepped in with military force when North Korea invaded South Korea in 1950, and General MacArthur was tasked with leading the United Nations Command in the country, in addition to the job he was already doing – overseeing the occupation of Japan. The five-star General planned the amphibious attack – which would become known as the Battle Of Incheon, but was codenamed Operation...

Newsflash: We still have awhile before the Oscars. It's like a month away. But we can prepare anyway by revisiting the greatest hits of our leading nominees in the acting categories. Put on your angriest Annette Bening face and join us for this trip into prestige pictures currently streaming on Netflix. "The Kids are All Right" (Julianne Moore) Julianne Moore didn't pick up a nomination, but costars Annette Bening and Mark Ruffalo did in this family drama (with funny moments) about a lesbian couple attempting to embrace the new-found presence of their kids' sperm donor. "The Kids are All Right" feels like a lost James L. Brooks gem set in 2010, and every performance has endearing and (intentionally) maddening moments. Julianne might play the most conflicted character at all, and she wears that indecision and personal guilt well. "My Week With Marilyn" (Eddie Redmayne) Is this a great movie? No. In fact,...

1. Patricia Arquette is the actress to beat. Her role as the mom parenting two kids over 12 years in Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" could well be considered a lead. By moving her to supporting, IFC figured--correctly--that she had a better chance of winning the category. Arquette is movingly real and natural as the mother who shepherds her children through the breakup with their father (Ethan Hawke) and two turbulent marriages before emerging as a professional successful single woman--with an empty nest. Arquette's money scene comes near the end, when her son packs for college and she admits, "I thought there would be more." Arquette is a key window into this accessible and identifiable movie, for parents and children alike. While Arquette, 46, has been a standout actress for years in such films as "True Romance," "Ethan Frome" and "Lost Highway," "Boyhood" is her highest-profile role to date and marks her...

August: Osage County takes two minutes to prove that Meryl Streep, still racking up Oscar nominations like Skee-Ball tickets at age 64, will brutalize herself and you for the sake of a movie. As the loopy Oklahoma grandmama Violet in the new adaptation of Tracy Letts‘ Pulitzer-winning play, she stumbles around almost gratuitously, gargles profanities at Julia Roberts, and basically refuses to endear us for the movie’s entire duration. If you thought June Squibb was broad in Nebraska, you’ll be shocked at the kabuki-type insanity of Meryl’s work. She practically draws a sword and impales Margo Martindale for disgracing the emperor.
As such, August: Osage County polarizes. But who doesn’t love when Meryl gives us polarizing work? After all, her weirdest, kookiest, and potentially funniest movie of all time is also her most divisive: Death Becomes Her. The dark 1992 farce may feel like the snobbish Hollywood cousin...

The New York-based crew recently showcased 13 of their shorts in Los Angeles as part of the HollyShorts Festival at Grauman's Chinese Theatre, including their unique takes on "Deer Hunter," "Ethan Frome," and the story of the pilgrims.

With the arrival of the auteur theory, filmmakers like Michael Curtiz no longer get as much sway among the current generation of directors. Curtiz (born Kertész Kaminer Manó in Hungary in 1886), was a journeyman, a man who flourished in the studio system after being picked out by Jack Warner for his Austrian Biblical epic "Moon of Israel" in 1924. He stayed at the studio for nearly 20 years, taking on whatever he was assigned at a terrifyingly prolific rate -- he made over 100 Hollywood movies up to "The Comancheros" in 1961. And some of them are terrible, as you might expect.
But Curtiz was also responsible for some of the greatest films of the era, and those who diminish his abilities (including the director himself, who once said "Who cares about character? I make it go so fast nobody notices") are ignoring his enormous skill behind the camera, and his undeniable capacity for...

It was rumored earlier this year that Liam Neeson would return to reprise his role as Ra's al Ghul in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. He was spotted on the set of the film, but until today there's been no confirmation of his involvement. Warner Bros. made the announcement in the production notes for the film that says,
Neeson next appears in Peter Berg's actioner "Battleship," and he also will be seen in Christopher Nolan's much-anticipated action thriller "The Dark Knight Rises.
It makes perfect sense to me that his character would be back as this Batman finale as we've heard Nolan would bring everything back around in full circle in the franchise. I can't wait to see what this film has in store for us! I just can't help but think it's going to be mind blowing.
Josh Pence is playing Ra's al Ghul in the films flashbacks.

Ever the busy beaver, Ben Stiller always seems to have half a dozen films going that he.s involved with in one capacity or another. Still hard at work on the remake of the classic Danny Kaye comedy/fantasy crossover The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Stiller has four other movies slated for a 2012 release, and has just added one more. According to Deadline, Fox has snatched up rights to The Mountain, to be based around the characters in Edith Wharton.s novel Summer. This won.t just be an adaption though. Summer follows Charity through a sexual awakening, an unplanned pregnancy with a man engaged to be married to someone else, numerous marriage proposals from her own guardian, and a life of prostitution. Sounds like a bit of a downer, not unlike Wharton.s more famous Ethan Frome. Instead a horror story will be built around the main characters,...

Picking Liam Neeson's best role is like picking the solar system's most inhabitable rock (planet Earth) or The Discovery Channel's best miniseries ('Planet Earth') -- there just isn't that much room for debate. Sure, he was a total bad-ass in 'Ethan Frome' and he narrated the crap out of IMAX's 'Everest,' but Liam Neeson was born with a very particular set of skills, and all of them were put to indelible work as the eponymous anti-hero in Steven Spielberg's 'Schindler's List.'
The thing about Spielberg's hallowed Holocaust saga is that -- between the fluidity of the filmmaking and the hypnotic power of the performances -- this three-hour pastiche of ghastly genocidal imagery is about as eminently watchable as movies get (an issue with which certain circles have taken considerable offense). Spielberg treated this most careful...

Happy Valentine’s Day! To celebrate, we revisit some of the scenes that still make us swoon. Some are obvious (Charlie Chaplin, Bogey and Bacall), some not so much (“Harold and Maude”?). And we discovered that the most romantic movie moments aren’t necessarily always found in romantic movies — you’ll find thrillers, sports movies and science fiction among our selections, as well as plenty of romances. Check out our picks and let us know what your most romantic movie moment is in the comment section below.
“Sense and Sensibility” (1995)
Directed by: Ang Lee
Starring: Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson
Near the end of “Sense and Sensibility,” Edward Ferrars (Hugh Grant) pays a visit to Elinor Dashwood (Emma Thompson). I am a self-loathing fiction snob. Cliched characters, bad dialog, unbelievable plots ... these things make me crazy and chip away at the limited resolve I have to venture away from non-fiction. I want to love novels. I really, really do. But it doesn't often work. As a result, most of my reading is heavy -- non-fiction or classic, proven novels, such as cheery Ethan Frome or Jane Eyre.
But sometimes a girl needs a break! A book for the beach! For this, I am so glad to have found John D. MacDonald and the Travis McGee series. Light, but not too light. Sex, guns and murder written for people with brains. I. Love. It.

John Madden is in negotiations to helm the Nazi-hunter thriller "The Debt" for Miramax.
Matthew Vaughn, director of Marvel Comics' upcoming "Thor," adapted the remake of the 2007 Israeli feature "HaHov" with writer Jane Goldman ("Stardust"). Vaughn, who will produce the project with Marv Films partner Kris Thykier, also is a partner with longtime collaborator Guy Ritchie in Ska Films ("Snatch").
The feature would mark Madden's first jump from the Weinstein-run Miramax to its new Daniel Battsek-led regime. Most of his directorial efforts have been Miramax projects, including "Shakespeare in Love," "Ethan Frome," "Mrs. Brown" and "Proof." His most recent film was the Weinstein Co./MGM thriller "Killshot," filmed in 2005 and still awaiting release.
Assaf Bernstein's "HaHov" follows a trio of 1960s Israeli intelligence agents who pursue a Nazi war criminal only to have him escape. More than 30 years later, their target re-emerges, forcing one of the agents to track him down and preserve their decades-old cover-up. As with the original, the remake is expected to feature two actresses playing the female protagonist in the '60s and '90s.
Miramax declined comment. Madden is repped by Caa and U.K.-based Casarotto Ramsay & Associates.
