Sex & Nudity

  • A lengthy sex scene montage, first beginning with a naked woman massaging a man (which leads to strongly implied sex) and a man having a strongly implied threesome with two women. Breasts and buttocks can be seen throughout the scene.
  • A woman runs away after soldiers attempt to rape her, and her shirt has been torn open. Her breasts can be seen briefly while she runs.

Violence & Gore

  • Numerous gun battles are peppered throughout the film between mercenaries, natives, and two different armies. Countless combatants are gunned down or blown up with bloody results. During all of this, a child is constantly threatened.
  • A soldier kills two journalists in brutal fashion with a pistol at close range.
  • A man is graphically shot in the eye, but survives.
  • Two men engage in a brutal fistfight in a burning No Man's Land, eventually ending with one of them impaling the other on a tree branch.
  • A man is ambushed and impaled by several spears from numerous attackers that hid themselves in the ground.
  • The entire film has several more instances of violence.

Profanity

  • Some profane language is present, but not very frequent; mostly uttered by an American character (so the approximate fifteen or so F-bombs are all said in English).

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • There are instances of alcoholic consumption and marijuana usage in a montage sequence.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A mother and her son are threatened by soldiers, who shoot the boy's grandparent in front of them. The soldiers are quickly killed by the protagonist.
  • A man sets off explosives around him to kill a score of soldiers, and barely survives.
  • A man finds his two wives tied to tree trunks, and runs to meet them both, and then proceeds to detonate his explosive vest to blow the three of them up.
  • A man's eyes are stitched open and he's propped on wooden stilts so that he is facing the sun without the ability to blink as a means of torture. He is later saved, and the stitches are graphically seen being pulled out. VERY graphic scene.
  • A child is taken by soldiers to be burned alive in a marsh. He is forced to stand in the field while soldiers douse his surrounds with gasoline and light it on fire. He actually manages to survive by burying himself under a layer of dirt to avoid the flames.
  • Throughout the film, main characters are slowly killed off by means of shooting, torture, explosions, or impalement. Only two of a rather large group survive to the end.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The entire film is very war-like, brutal and intense, and may definitely upset many viewers with its scenes of torture and the attempted burning of a small child. People (including women and children) are constantly hunted and in danger of being tortured and killed--several of these characters are eventually killed as the film progresses. The gun battles are exaggerated and over-the-top, but very rough and realistic.
