Creepy and disturbing terror movie about a series killer exacts a relentless and bloody vengeance
ma-cortes5 August 2022
Jean (Juan Logar), a medical student of surgery in Paris, is deeply in love with Jacqueline (Annie Sinigalia). While her upper class parents (Tomás Blanco , Irene Gutiérrez Caba) are opposed to this relationship because she is lower class . All his happiness comes crashing down when on the wedding day , Jacqueline undergoes an emergency operation and dies . As surgeon's wife dies in the operating room and then he begins to kill medical surgery students, and other surgeons , amputating the hands of the victims so that they cannot harm their beloved beings . Maddened , the unsettling Jean abandons his medicine studies and begins killing more and more surgery students . Meantime , a stubborn Police Detective (Paul Naschy or Jacinto Molina) starts investigating the grisly killings with surprising results .

A crime thriller with chills , suspenseful , intrigue , violent murders and sinister events . Juan Logar starred in, produced, wrote the script and composed the music for this so-so film set in Paris and centered on a young man who loses his mind due to the death of his girlfriend and dedicates himself to kill as a ruthless murderer series to future surgeons by blaming the lousy surgery for the death of the aforementioned . The plot is absurd at times and the psychological study of the criminal, traumatized and with regular happy memories through flashbacks , lacks interest despite Logar's dramatic effort , falling into a routine of predictable consequences . Here the main novelty is the hair-raising plot including brief gore, mutilated hands, and violent murders , this issue should be my shocking in the splendor of Francoism period in the Sixties . The movie is acceptable and passable although the performances are mediocre . Thus , the main protagonist does not give his character enough push , not expressing the due emotions to his disturbing role. Stands out the support cast with a familar plethora of nice Spanish secondaries , such as : Irene Gutiérrez Caba , Pepe Rubio , Yelena Samarina , Manuel Manzaneque , Tomás Blanco , Ángel Menéndez, Antonio Jiménez Escribano and special mention for Paul Naschy , in fact it was one of the first films in which Jacinto Molina/Paul Naschy appeared credited, here under the name of David Molba.

It displays a colorful cinematography by cameraman Raúl Artigot , a good artisan who developed a long career as National : Coqueluche , Ligeramente viudas , Manuela , Cruzada en el mar , El vendedor de ilusiones , La Semana del asesino , as International : O. K. Yevtushenko, La maldición de Frankenstein , Sharon vestida de Rojo, Los Demonios. Being filmed on location in Lozoya, Madrid, Spain and Paris, France . The motion picture was regular but professionally directed by Enrique López Eguiluz , but it has several flaws , gaps , faults and shortcomings. Eguiluz was a writer and director who made a few films . Eguiluz was craftsman who shot thrillers , horror , family films and documentary , such as : Santo contra los asesinos de la Mafia , Chantaje a un asesino , En Andalucía nació el amor , La pandilla , Pascualín and after filming Agonizando en el crimen (1968) was promoted by Paul Naschy himself to shot the successful La marca del Hombre Lobo that resulted to be the first character of the unforgettable Wolfman Waldemar Daninsky starred by the king of Spanish terror cinema , Jacinto Molina . Rating . 5/10 . So-so , but passable and acceptable.
