Interesting and passable drama of the Fifties about Communist pursuits against unfortunate Catholic population
ma-cortes2 October 2020
A dramatic and exciting movie based on historical events about Polish revolts , competently directed by José Maria Forqué, and José Antonio Nieves Conde. In the background of the communist Poland in which rules a Communist goverment imposed by Soviet Union are interwoven some stories about a deserter and unfortunate pursued people who are detained and mercilessly chased by the Communist authorities . At the beginning , Jan Walzak (Jorge Mistral) is accused to be a nationalis traitor . As the rebel flees from the communist cruelty . Along the way Walzak is relentlessly pursued by two Communist Comissarios Chapek (Rubén Rojo) , Grumko (Félix Dafauce) who will stop at nothing to catch him . Walzak takes a bus and unexpected consequences take place after a road accident in which he poses as a deceased person , becoming a religious leader , but things go awry when the Communist agents learn his situation.

Acceptable and thought-provoking drama , outstanding some action scenes , pursuits with violent executions in cold blood and adding religious feeling , all of them are compellingly assembled in the movie . It results to be a spiritual film and full of moving scenes , touching sacrifice and dramatic relationships among pursuers and pursued people . It concerns Communist pursuits against Catholic people , escapes , riots , upheavals and subsequent repression that provokes the anger of the govern by outbursting violent . Well set film during the communist repression Poland , though being really shot in Spain . This is a flawed film though decent , because being plenty of luminous sensibility , solidarity , redemption , faith , cooperation and eventually good feeling . The film freely based on on historical facts was well written Lluís Josep Comerón , Jorge Illa , José Antonio de la Loma and adapted by Manuel Tamayo . Decent main and support cast . Jorge Mistral gives a fine acting as deserter called Jan Walzak who even kidnaps a bus full of passengers and subsequently he disguises as Paul Banek character to escape from the evil communists . He is the main star , being supported by a great support cast , such as : Jesús Tordesillas, Félix Dafauce, Nicolás D. Perchicot, Fernando Cebrián , Joan Capri , Rubén Rojo, José Marco, among others . Competently produced by Yago Films , it displays atmospheric cinematography in black and white by director of photography José F. Aguayo and uncredited Francisco Sempere . As well as evocative production design by the prestigious Sigfrido Burmann and with adequate Musical score by Isidro B. Maiztegui .

The motion picture was professionally directed by prolific filmmaker Jose Maria Forqué and José Antonio Nieves Conde, though resulting to be some boring and it has some gaps and flaws . This directors was defending his names and careers , but also their money by investing in the project . José María Forqué was born in Zaragoza , being father of actress Verónica Forqué and director Álvaro Forqué .
