For the past two weeks on "Big Brother 17," James Huling and Meg Maley have been able to sit back with popcorn and watch the rest of the house fight. But now it's Week 10 and one of them is in danger of going home/to jury, courtesy of the brilliant Mad Hatter, Vanessa Rousso.
Vanessa just won her third Head of Household competition and has two sets of alliances on her side: Steve Moses and returnee Johnny Mac McGuire, plus Austin Matelson and twins Julia and Liz Nolan. Everyone wanted Vanessa out as early as last week but now she is doing what she does best: backing people into corners to make deals and winning people over to her side. You don't have to like Vanessa -- she makes it tough sometimes with all the tears and hypocrisy -- but all Bb fans...

The Anthology Film Archives in New York will present three classic Laurel and Hardy films from the 1930s on the big screen this weekend, Saturday, September 27. Here is the description of the program:
“Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy are the movies’ greatest comic duo, the quintessential dumb and dumber odd-couple. Though critically overshadowed by Chaplin, Keaton, and Lloyd, they were enormously popular, and proved a major influence on Abbott & Costello, Lucille Ball & Vivian Vance, and Jackie Gleason & Art Carney, not to mention Samuel Beckett (they were an inspiration for Waiting For Godot), Roman Polanski (who paid homage to them in his existentialist short films Fat And Lean and Two Men And A Wardrobe), and Ken Jacobs (whose Ontic Antics deconstructs one of their films).” –David Mulkins
County Hospital (1932, 20 min, 16mm, b&w. Directed by James Parrott.)
Them Thar Hills (1934, 20 min, 16mm, b&w. Directed by Charley Rogers.)

Plus, Tyler plays show-and-tell with his tattoos! Did You know they’re real?
Tyler Posey had a lot to be excited about when HollywoodLife.com caught up with him Aug. 1, backstage at the 2013 Young Hollywood Awards: Not only did the newly-engaged actor just accept the “Best Ensemble Cast” award with his co-stars by his side, but he was also amped to talk about the final Teen Wolf episodes of 2013 — and boy, are they going to be doozies.
He couldn’t tell me exactly who dies in the next three episodes, but he was able to speak — generally — about the madness to come:
[You're going to see] stuff we’ve never tackled on the set. It’s going to be really fun to watch. You’ll find out a lot of secrets that have still yet to be answered. Scott is the man, Stiles is the bro… Things, somewhat, finally get answered. Everything kind of cools down a little bit,...

Last night on Conan, Jeff Goldblum was just so kooky it proved difficult to select the best moments of his interview. But here goes. Mr. Goldblum exhibited lots of curious, touchy-feely love for the ginger host, first pawing at his body — "You know that I like to examine you, hmmmm," he uttered as he flung off his glasses for a closer look. Then he burped — unintentionally — only to spin the subsequent censure into praise for Conan's ability to "weave ... a giant web of comedy." To top it off, he went in for a much deeper examination of the host's nether region as the two compared their leg hair and color. Plus: Christina Aguilera visited Chelsea Handler on the one condition that the latter don hot pants à la Xtina. Tit for tat. And for that, we got to hear that Christina denounces panties and pasties, and while the...

In case forcing the crew of The Canyon to take off their clothes before her nude scene hadn’t convinced you, this rumor confirms what we’ve long suspected: Lindsay Lohan must be so much fun to hang out with, other celebs quickly forget about all her arrests. And her car accidents. And I Know Who Killed Me. According to the New York Post, Lilo has allegedly been cast in an upcoming music video from Lady Gaga‘s new album Artpop. Seeing as how the news emerged only days after Lohan spent the night hanging out with Gaga at the Chateau Marmont, maybe Lindsy should book a whole bunch of celebrity sleepovers! Not in a filthy way, you pervs. We mean in a Boogle-playing, Chex mix-eating, Poltergeist-watching kind of way. Oh wait, that’s starting to sound sexy too. Hmmm….
So maybe Lindsay did get Gaga her part as La...

One of my earliest Movie Posters of the Week, a few years ago, was for a stunning poster for Bresson’s Pickpocket. Back then I noted that it was “designed by one Christian Broutin. It turns out that Broutin (who was born in 1933 and only 26 when he designed this) also designed the conceptually similar poster for Jules and Jim, another of my all-time favorite French affiches.” In the comments somebody asked if I knew anything else about Broutin but I did not and could not find out much more on the web other than that he was also a children’s book illustrator.
A few months ago I came across another great poster attributed to Broutin and in my search for a better quality image for the poster I discovered his website (“Welcome to the site of Christian Broutin, maxi-realist painter, illustrator, creator of stamps”) which told me that Christian Broutin is alive and well,...

Jim Sheridan on the set of Dream HouseI'll begin with the film currently in theaters and then move to the one still a year away as the "Los Angeles Times" has a pair of interesting director horror stories to tell, beginning with the recently released supernatural thriller Dream House starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts.
Directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot), there was talk of troubles between Sheridan and Morgan Creek Productions co-founder James G. Robinson during production. Sheridan deviated from David Loucka's script while filming and after a dismal test screening and a first round of reshoots, the production company ultimately took control of the film in the editing room.
This decision prompted Sheridan to approach the Directors Guild of America and request his name be removed from the feature, labeling the film with a director credit of Alan Smithee, Hollywood's equivalent of John Doe.

Phobia
Stars: Laila Boonyasak, Pongsatorn Jongwilak, Maneerat Kham-uan | Directed by Yongyoot Thongkongtoon, Paween Purikitpanya, Banjong Pisanthanakun, Parkpoom Wongpoom
Phobia is a compendium of four short horror films – in the style of the classic Us horror movies such as Tales From The Crypt, Twilight Zone: The Movie and Creepshow – from a selection of Thai directors.
The first, ‘Happiness’, directed by Yongyoot Thongkongtoon, focuses exclusively on a lone occupant of a single room, a young woman incarcerated in her apartment due to a broken leg suffered in a car accident. She is bored and lonely until she starts receiving text messages from an unknown stranger. Thongkongtoon’s ponderous and quasi-poetic direction adeptly transforms familiar surroundings into first unsettling and then frightening environments. This dialogue-free short is the most subtle of the quartet and a strong opening salvo.

This has to stop.
On Monday, RuPaul revealed the winner of the second season of his RuPaul's Drag Race reality TV show, and it turned out to be Tyra Sanchez.
The choice was controversial. A sizable number of viewers were rooting for the quick-witted Pandora Boxx , who had been eliminated earlier in the season, but who won the Miss Congeniality Award in the reunion show ("by a landslide," RuPaul said).
Others thought plucky, amiable Jujubee would have made a better "Next Drag Superstar," or even foul-mouthed, but always flawlessly-executed Raven.
There are plenty of good reasons to second-guess the actual pick, but racism on the part of RuPaul isn't one of them.
But weirdly, that is precisely what a disturbing number of people are saying, on the Drag Race Facebook page and even here in the comments at AfterElton.com.
What's the evidence? Despite selecting multi-racial casts this year and last,...

Directors: Pisanthanakun, Purijitpanya, Sugmakanan, Wongpoom, Poolvoralaks. Review: Adam Wing. Thai horror anthology Phobia (a.k.a. 4bia) was a big hit in 2008, proving that there’s plenty of life (or should that be death) in the tired Asian horror genre. The sequel arrived a year later, rather predictably shattering Thailand's box-office records once again. The follow-up offers five chilling shorts not four, now there’s a twist, which means that the playful title of the original is redundant this time around. Paween Purijitpanya (Body), Parkpoom Wongpoom (Shutter) and Banjong Pisanthanakun (Alone) return to helm a segment each, alongside Songyos Sugmakanan (Dorm) and veteran producer Wisoot Poolvoralaks (Nang-Nak), who take charge of the remaining two chapters. Phobia 2 opens with the tale of Novice, where a young boy has gone into hiding at a Buddhist monastery, his attempts to evade the law take a deadly turn when his criminal past comes back to haunt him.
