When she becomes pregnant, Mary gets ready to go to her Mother's home, but after Lambert saves Clean-Up West ( Hector Dion ) life, a gambler, shot during a card game, West persuades Mary to elope with him. Soon he abandons hers and she returns to the camp, but dies in childbirth. Lambert becomes enraged, vowing to never again have faith or help anyone, he leaves the baby on a doorstep and leaves the town. Fifteen years pass, and Lambert returns to the town, now a drunkard. Sweet Lily Sawyer ( Mildred Davis ) befriends Lambert's injured dog, and her gentle manner impresses Lambert greatly. Meanwhile, West has returned to town and sets his sights on Lily, deciding to abduct her, but his partner Faro Fanny ( Betty Schade ) recognizes Lambert and tells him Lily is his daughter. Lambert kills West before he can harm Lily and soon his belief and faith in God are restored.
