5/10
a neurotic sex-obsessed Jewish man in New York City
5 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Alexander Portnoy (Richard Benjamin) is the assistant commissioner of human opportunity for the city of New York. He is a neurotic single Jewish man obsessed with sex. That is all he thinks about. He is thirtysomething and still living at home with his overbearing parents.

This is based on a Philip Roth novel. Screenwriter Ernest Lehman is doing his one and only directing effort. I can see why. I do not like these characters. I can take it or leave it with Alex. A few times, his antics get to be a bit funny. Even those have the overlay of annoying characters. Mostly, I grew tired of the movie. If this had the balls, it would have gone through with the rape. At least, that would have been interesting.
