Made Brazilian culture relatable and accessible to the general audience

This movie really touched on all the cultural aspects of Brazil and how it affects people in their everyday lives from relationships to family dynamics and everything else. As a Latino, I myself have experienced first hand the cultural pressures from family for not dating people who are the same culture as me and identifying with Rudy to push against the cultural "norm." My favorite line in the movie was when Isabella tells Rudy to "take it higher" which he eventually does at the end of the film. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the connection between Rudy and Isabella. You could feel the connection between the two from the beginning they met and experienced the sharp contrast to the Gringa that had nothing in common with Rudy. The entire movie played like a musical and I had never heard of Synesthesia before and Rudy did a great job connecting the sounds of normal everyday situations and how it prevented his ability to live a normal life, but also gave rise to the opportunity to create music and art through the puppetry performances towards the end of the movie that ultimately bring him a sense of purpose and happiness. Bravo!
