The Artful Dodger (2023– )

I can officially say I have a favourite show
26 February 2024
When I try to think of flaws in this show, I can literally think of none. I absolutely loved it. The visuals were excellent and actually bright despite the setting, which so many shows fail to do. The acting was IMPECCABLE; each and every performance was memorable. I loved the score and the use of rock music. It's so unique for a period drama and I thought it worked perfectly. The plot was spot on. Was it super profound and original? Not exactly? Did I care at all? Clearly, not. However, the best part about this series is by far the characters. I LOVED Jack and thought he was so well-rounded and written realistically regarding his story in Oliver Twist. Belle was amazing. She wasn't just another strong female character with no personality. She showed true vulnerability and, you know, didn't really want to shoot bottles with a gun (and didn't do it perfectly on her first try). Fagin was SO INTERESTING. His moral compass is such a fascinating character trait that caused me to flip flop between loving him and not over and over.

Anyways, watch this show, I guess.
