A beautiful and deeply moving piece of cinema. Johnny is based on the life of well-known young Polish priest, Jan Kaczkowski, who dedicated his life to helping those discarded by society. We see Jan fight to build a hospice before encountering Patryk an ex-criminal sentenced to community service at the hospice. An unlikely friendship develops as Jan continues to teach acceptance and forgiveness even in the face of his own terminal diagnosis.

The film is extremely well shot with exquisite performances from the entire cast. The soundtrack, lighting and real life footage take the lead at all the right moments. The film never forces anything on the viewer which is extremely refreshing. If you enjoyed the French film The Intouchables, then I highly recommend Johnny.

Jan Kaczkowski's story deserved a stunning portrayal and the production team, cast and crew should hold their heads high. A job very well done.
