Review of Trinkets

Trinkets (2019–2020)
6/10
Teenagers With Shoplifitng And Romance Difficulties
23 February 2024
It's a twist on a standard teenage romp drama of love-sick teenagers because this time it entails shoplifting! Yup! Shoplifting!

It's not just set at a school but at the indie club and their parents' houses but the mall where they thieve their way through items to gain street creditiblity and black market finance. Plenty of good locations by the scouting team who did a top job.

The really great concept of this show is the open lesbian lead and the concept being about empowering women and showing douchebag dudes wether it be one of their dads or their boyfriends!

We're not all that bad ladies! I PROFESS! It's nice having a show with the protagonists being women. It's very much in the spirit of 'Good Girls' meets 90's teen drama 'Saved By The Bell'.

I did love the nightclub in the show where they see up-and-coming live unsigned acts; who sound surprisingly polished and fresh. The Dead Moon poster on the wall is just pure class!

It does draw a bit on similar concepts of other shows and it's a recycled formula but it is done very well. The only problem is that there's so many of these now that it does not seem that fresh anymore.

Season 2.

Ok it's much of the same and it's a very long drawn-out episode of teenage angst and revenge plots. It's quite dull and and not as good as the opening of Series 1.

The plot had to change and it has not. Way too many episodes. It's a shame as the idea is good but it's just mediocre compared to what is out there now. A downgrade to a 6.
