Godzilla 1985 (1985)

Warning: Spoilers
I don't necessarily know if this is the same film as Return of Godzilla back in 1984 but I would write this as if these are the 2 same films

The tone is so vastly different from Showa era films because this film takes a far more serious approach and as someone who enjoys darker films, it works wonders because Godzilla is now shown as a threat and danger {even though he never did anything bad other than destroy some Soviet sub in the beginning} and far more intimidating. This film is very fast paced and it got to the main plot relatively quickly.

Even if I hated it a little bit, the english dub wasn't actually as bad as I thought it would be and the final message from the Americans about nature was actually pretty neat. I kind of think the volcano ending was kind of stupid but I guess it was the only way to take down our boy

But where is the music? Sure the main theme of the film actually is fantastic but just like a lot of early Toho-Godzilla films lacks a proper and a constant soundtrack which do makes a good chunk of the film feel empty, the plot wasn't the best but hey! This film is still better than any film Legendary has put out!

Rating: 7.2/10.
