All-star spaghetti western heist comedy
6 February 2024
In the midst of the Mexican civil war, a band of robbers team up with a corrupt Mexican colonel and his men to pull off a heist. Lighthearted spaghetti western boasts an impressive cast of star power, but it's a mystery why it plays for laughs when there's a more conventional action-thriller potentially concealed underneath.

Aside from the three principals who each look like they're jockeying for the acting honours in each of their collective scenes, there's a strong supporting cast including Aldo Sambrell (who never forgets a face), John Garko, Daniel Martin, ex-pat Jess Hahn and future Hollywood Spanish character actor Simon Andreu. There's also plenty of dubbing done by Robert Rietty, his familiar accent voicing several of the minor cast.

Almost slapstick comedy at times, the sight gags and joyful clarinets keep the tone light, but consequently the action is limited. It's a spaghetti western in costume only that needed a sturdier backbone for three stars of such force to properly demonstrate their talents.
