In order to help her - and in order to best the villain at the same time - he and his friends organize an elaborate sting operation. And why ? Because our lovable rogue can't bear to see injustice, that's why !
So this is a premise that takes some swallowing, given that miscreants like fraudsters and scammers are not known for their finely-tuned consciences. Neither are they known for their Sir Galahad-like chivalry.
