5/10
A Shakespeare play narrated by prisoners
17 September 2023
The Italian film, inspired by the work of William Shakespeare, is a free interpretation that presents us with the inmates of a prison narrating Caesar's tragedy through their rehearsal for a play. You can see how the prisoners end up getting into the skin of their characters with dramatic performances that are admirable. The film is two-faced in wanting to narrate Shakespeare's work, but only using the prisoners as a resource. The film itself is a mediocre product that moves away from being a film like any other to cling to theatrical drama. The performances and photography are worthy of respect, but there is nothing more to contribute. This film is a curious proposal for trying to represent a Shakespeare play in a different way, but in the end it is a forgettable film. My final rating for this movie is a 5/10.
