FRIDAY NIGHT PLAN:-a breezy, cool film about teenagers
9 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Friday night plan is a comedy drama film directed by vatsal neelakantan.

After a long time, i had the chance to watch a carefree, lighthearted hindi film. The director treated it with simplicity and did not overcomplicate it. Babil khan and amrith jayan as 'sid' and 'adi' resonate with this simplicity. Both are earnest in their portrayals, they have their own set of problems, an affinity for wings, some hidden talents and a pretty good heart at the right place. They were great. Medha rana and aadhya anand were equally good. However, aadhya's accent came in her way of dialogue delivery at times. The rest of the supporting cast was great.

The cinematography is cool, does not go into serious, dark technicalities. The songs are upbeat, peppy and resonate with the teenage population. While watching the film, you could relate with sid on the grounds of angst, insecurities and the urge to hide your talents. The dialogues are very good, very relatable.

One drawback you could say, is that it never settles in just one night or on one friday. The insecurities, the fear of growing up does not go away in just one night like in the film. The solutions in the film come rather easily and very convincingly. We also wanted that, no denying, but it is not all shiny and bright the next day in real life. Nevertheless, the makers should have released it in theatres. A carefree, lightmood movie is what the audience could have lapped up in today's dark themed movies.
