It's 1945. The Americans find Nazi gold hidden in a salt mine. General Patton orders the gold shipped to Frankfurt, but it gets stolen after 59 American soldiers guarding the gold are killed. The investigation leads to OSS major Joe De Luca (John Cassavetes) who had written a plan to steal the gold. He is ordered to join the investigation. There is now a plan to kill Patton.

The premise is convoluted and weaves in some real history. My first question is how did they transport over 300 tonnes of gold. I want the mechanics of that caper. The movie shows the tunnel part. I want the rest. Depending on the gold heist, the Patton part may not be necessary or it may not be useful. This feels like putting the cart in front of the horse. Yet, the movie is all about the cart. I prefer a movie about Patton hunting for stolen gold.
