As a 61 year old, you think you have seen every film every made and then some. And then out of the blue you get a recommendation of a film you have never heard of, and wonder where its been all your life.
First the bad. Its sooooo dated where actors stand in a fixed pose looking moody at the camera. Then the cameraman puts in a close up lens for even more of the moodiness, but I guess thats what people wanted to see back then.
Then the good, despite being a dated fuzzy print, you could believe that they were actually building the tunnel underground. You look and try to imagine its all done with models, but it looks as if they are really tunneling underground,
Lots of explosions, fires and thermometers going into the red, its almost like something out the Thunderbirds series.
The bit about the lady made no sense, and we never find out what happens to the main guy's son, but I suppose it fleshed out the story and suspense.
I dont think I would want to watch it again, but highly recommended.
