This is based on a true story and shows us how the head of private clinic destroys the fame and the life of two surgeons: the power of the harassment (the phone calls in the night), of the rumors and gossips, the use of the personal weaknesses (the heart infarct of the Dr. Losseray or the gambling passion of the Dr. Berg).
Quite immediately we see the consequences of this harassment when the Dr. Berg kills his family and kills himself.
An important aspect of this film is the switching back and forth in time: may be Jacques Rouffio considered it useful to insist about the strength of the harassment and the desperation of the two doctors.
Nevertheless the performances of Gérard Depardieu, Michel Piccoli, Jane Birkin, Marina Vlady, Michel Auclair and Charles Vanel are good.
