A Return to Schlock

This episode is reheated bad paranormal leftovers. Another weird power that murders the innocent vindictively, causes Mulder and Scully to investigate, mostly Mulder actually. Scully spends her time being skeptical and making, truly, moronic counter-suggestions to deflate everything Mulder comes up with. The idea of an actual medical doctor being that... unaware of how the planet they live on works seems unlikely. I mean, she honestly suggested a freshly filled helium balloon probably walked itself 50 yards across a county fair at a level height because of the wind. Because sideways motion would counteract the physical force of buoyancy. Do you know how much physics you have to take in college to get into med school?

She also wonders if ash spread all over a completely unburnt murder scene might be from faulty wiring, WUT? As they say Scully, where there's ash there's fire. Also props to the fictional garage door company for placing a "Reset" button on the door's motor, which is only reachable by climbing a ladder and sticking your head into the gears of the automatic door. Next episode they should introduce a car where in order to change the oil you have to shove your head into the crankcase.

Anyway, I don't want want to say these stories are tired, but I knew what the twist was around 10 seconds into the episode. It's neat they tried to draw some foreign culture into the lore, but it was all just so it could be put into service doing the same old awful thing. I mean, literally they had done a variation on this plot five times already by this point in the series.
