When this play was first released on video, it had an absolutely marvelous ending with the whole family at home. Once it was re-formatted, for DVD, there were minor changes, especially the ending. This change absolutely ruined the movie.
For some unexplainable reason, the powers that be decided to change the joyous ending, and instead put the major characters (Pacino and the children) on the streets of New York to discover the play's review in the NYT. With this change, it loses the warmth of the family, and the ending is anticlimactic and loses the impact that made this movie a true gem.
I have searched for the original on DVD, and I cannot find it.
