Race car driver Joe Greer (James Cagney) was the best in the nation. He won wherever he raced, including Indianapolis. When his brother Eddie Greer (Eric Linden) wanted to race as well Joe reluctantly took him under his wing. The two were thick as thieves until Anne Scott (Joan Blondell) got in between them. Eddie would go on to shine while Joe would sink to near obscurity after a racer was killed on the track. Could Joe ever get his mojo back or would he wither away?
Cagney and Blondell are together again, but they weren't an item. They are better as a tandem. They were together in "Sinner's Holiday," "Other Men's Women," "Blonde Crazy," and, more famously, "The Public Enemy." Even though I liked this movie, I would've loved for Cagney and Blondell to have been a pair instead of Linden and Blondell, and Cagney and Ann Dvorak.
