1) It's like a lesser version of IN THE COMPANY OF MEN. Not so deep, this feels more shallow in comparison. A drama disguised as a comedy. It's nice to see a movie which don't need murders or crazy twists in order to be dark and cynical. Only a capable and sophisticated director can achieve this. Nowadays, a director cannot shock the audience through subtlety. Not always directors' fault, it's probably a thing of our times. Audience is desensitized.

2) Every character here is a sleaze. Patric's character is disgusting and a sociopath too. ( Eckhart's character is a good guy though, at least for me). In spite of this, this is an enjoyable movie and the viewers empathize with these characters. I knew that Eckhart/Keener/ Stiller are good actors, i remember Brenneman from LEFTOVERS and she didn't surprise me here, but i didn't knew that Jason Patric can act so well. Of course he steals the movie like many others said, he is magnificent.

3) The ending was surprising and not in a good way, it was uncharacteristically shocking for shocking's sake. I bought everything that happened here but not this scene. Still, wouldn't call it bad or disastrous, probably a funny one. In any case, i recommend this movie for anyone who wants to watch a cynical dramedy.
