Imagine having a great life, and moreover, being able to make a living inspiring people by telling them what a great life you have. Indeed, some might say that being able to make a living like this would take you much of a way of having a great life in itself, or at least be the cherry on the top of a rather nice cake. But to look at it from another perspective, this also means that your living depends on having that fantastic lifestyle; or at least, being able to convince others that you do, even if it isn't true. Magnus von Horn's film 'Sweat' is a film about an Instagram influencer, a fitness instructor with a cult-like following who in some ways is unable to have a real life at all. Lead actress Magdelena Kolesnik is certainly convincing in spite of the physical demands of her role. The plot, meanwhile, varies between the subtle and the more obvious. But the ending is clever, as the character chooses to self-validate and re-assert her defining myth even in a moment of apparent honesty and weakness. Overall, it's a scary insight on the way we (aspire to) live now.
