Sad beautiful moment captured
22 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This tiny piece of film, 58 seconds long, is a strange and evocative moment in its own write. It's power is amplified by our knowledge of the tremendous artistic legacy of the still living man, a one whose obsessions turned 'body-horror' into a genre, and whose atheism is self-described as 'rock solid.' A man lovingly embracing his own corpse. That's it. But as art, that isn't just it. It's like a prolonged surreal painting So this fragment is very satisfying, and creates an impression that lingers. I have nothing else to say but I'm being forced to create a six hundred word minimum so I will.
