The Detectives had a wide format. There was always room for a more comedic story. In the full length third season, this episode sticks out like a sore unfunny thumb.

Morton (Arthur Malet) is an eccentric man with a bird on his shoulder. He goes to the police and confesses to the police that had a dream in which he killed his wife. Now his wife really has disappeared.

One of his nosey neighbours truly believes that Morton might have killed his wife, and tells the police about it.

It leads to the police digging up his basement to find out if Morton really did kill her.

Captain Holbrook knows that Morton is a hen pecked husband and might not be as mad as he makes out to be. Holbrook believes that Morton has a cunning plan in motion.

When Morton's obnoxious wife does show up. Morton could kill her and bury her in the basement which was freshly dug up by the police.

Morton is not the only issue Holbrook has to deal with. There is a stripper whose costume is too revealing. Holbrook wants her to wear a bit more cloth and show a little less flesh.

The show could had got away with this sort of story in the previous season. Here it comes across as a filler episode.
