Disappointment
18 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The film has some good moments and is laugh out loud funny in places especially when Emma is on screen but it is disappointing. It's set up as a take on arranged marriages and Jemima's love letter to Pakistan but spends very little time in Lahore and shows young Pakistanis as liars, drunks, drug takers and fakes. You don't get Jemima's take on a cross cultural marriage, which you expect considering it's sold that way. You don't get to see Pakistan in a good light. That country is beautiful yet you can tell they probably spent 1-2 days there filming the mosque. The story only starts at the end.
