Bravo Two Zero (1999 TV Movie)

Started OK, but went downhill

Warning: Spoilers
I found this movie entertaining initially. It was the typical "bond with your buddies" in a military way. As a Gulf War vet, it found it somewhat realistic. Once they got dropped into Iraq, looking for SCUD missiles and communication links, the plot became a little silly. 8 guys shooting what seemed like hundreds of bad guys. You know, like an Arnold movie. The good guys had a great aim and unlimited ammo. They spent most of the movie evading capture. Alas, once they were inevitably captured, it was the typical "torture till you drop" scenario. Curiously, the storyline said the patrol was the most highly-decorated patrol since the Boer War. As far as I can tell, they never accomplished any part of their mission. Supposedly based on a true story, the writer, who happened to be the lead character, has been criticized/exposed by his contemporaries as a fraud...i.e., these silly "shoot-em ups" didn't happen. Who knows? At least Sean Bean was good.
